Between Renaissance and Baroque
The program is dedicated to music for the lute of the early 17th century.
It combines compositions that incorporate all the achievements of the lute players of the 16th century, and pieces written for the still Renaissance type of instrument, but already full of experiments with the musical language. The main genres of lute music of that time are presented: free-form preludes, toccatas and fantasies, various dance pieces and intabulations of vocal compositions.

The concert begins with the compositions of the Italians Giovanni Girolamo Kapsperger, Michelangelo Galilei, Pietro Paolo Melli and Alessandro Piccinini, the innovative composers of their time, which is especially evident in the toccatas. This is followed by suites by French composers Robert Ballard and Nicolas Vallet, in which court and village dances are compared.
The finale of the concert is the music of the English compouser John Dowland, who is celebrating his 460th birthday this year.

In 2019, Marina Belova became the winner of the world's only lute competition "Maurizio Pratola" (Italy, L'Aquila).
In 2020-2022 the program "Between Renaissance and Baroque" was performed at festivals in Italy and Switzerland Festiv’Alba, La Riccitelli, Concerti Barattelli, Grandezze & Meraviglie, Festival Barocco Alessandro Stradella di Viterbo e Nepi, Alte Musik Zürich.
